Departmental Performance Measures
An integral part of the Managing for Results (MFR) model implemented by the County, is the collection and evaluation of departmental performance measures. MFR allows Durham County decision makers to analyze data and trends and to then review programs and services objectively. Performance data helps ensure that Durham County is using tax dollars to fund the results that residents want.

Strategic Plan Community Indicators
Within each of the five Strategic Plan goal areas, the refreshed Strategic Plan included a series of global metrics that would serve as a means with which to gauge overall County progress toward achieving Strategic Plan Goals. The metrics (measures) include 17 “Community” Indicators, which are broad and high-level gauges of the community which can be used to inform the creation of community wide policy and overarching progress toward the five Strategic Plan goals.

Budget in Brief & Capital Improvement Program
The Budget in Brief provides a condensed, numerical version of the County’s annual budget. The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is a ten year view of future capital project activity that is planned to occur for Durham County government and tries to capture the estimated costs and funding of major expense projects as well as the related long term debt service support needed to pay for the projects.

Budget and Tax Survey Data
Budget and Tax Survey data is collected from over 20 years of NC Association of County Commissioner (NCACC) annual surveys sent to all 100 county governments in NC. The data presented here is helpful in benchmarking a number of important areas supported specifically by County governments. Note that the data is collected and vetted solely by the NCACC.
